Don’t over power your subs. Make sure your giving your subs the power they need. But remember its always better to under power your subwoofers then to overpower them. Make sure that the speaker wire your using is the correct gauge, and that they speaker are wired correctly. Why You Need a Electronic Crossover For Your Car Audio System
No matter what corner of this planet called Earth we live on. In the "Car Audio World" you will always get a tempered discussion on whether to add a stand-alone crossover to your car audio set-up or not. Prepare yourself to hear the mass produced answer's of " you don't need a crossover anymore, most amps have one built in", or "my headunit has an EQ, so why would I ever need a Crossover". I have heard these lines over and over again, like a crack in an old record that just keeps skipping back ever five seconds. Its funny how I have never heard a system sound as good without a crossover as a system with one. Have You?
First and foremost lets get the facts straight, If you want the best possible sound ( meaning clean, crisp and clear ) you need an Electronic Crossover. Mp3 players are changing the game in car audio. The storage capacity of today's mp3 players are starting to change as quickly as the weather. When Microsoft released the Zune its largest storage capacity was 30gb. Less then a couple of years later, they released the newest generation Zune that has more then twice the amount of storage. I can't remember the last time I went to a car show where someone was showing off their system, with a banging CD spinning the tunes inside of the headunit. Now its all about how can you customize the interior of your car, to seamlessly squeeze in your favorite mp3 player.
Car audio used to just focus on four main components: headunits, speakers, subwoofers, and your amplifier. Now you must take in consideration the quality of the mp3 player you choose to use. Once you connect the mp3 player thru the aux-in or by way of the direct mp3 connection, in essence it then becomes your headunit. If you have a cheap mp3 player that sounds distorted when listened thru your headphones, it will also sound distorted once connected to your car audio system, just at a much louder volume!
